This Year ~
In illustrating, life and everything...
Hello all, and happy new year! (can we still say that this far into January? - BUT in all honesty it really does feel like I’m only just starting back at work and getting my mind into gear.)
The start of the year was a rocky one. I had a nasty flu on NYE and its effects have been lingering ever since. Not to mention the stormy weather and damage to my office and home throwing me off pace!
Most weeks so far this year have been peppered with liaising with the work-men, insurers and of course the head-splitting noises of construction work. . .

So, I was thrilled to escape to London for a moment and meet with the lovely picture books team to talk all things BOOKS! (Maria & Anne-Louise of Walker Books pictured with me above)
I can now start sharing more of my upcoming author illustrator picture book, OAK - I am absolutely obsessed with this one, it’s consumed my mind for much of 2023. It seems surreal that this book will be releasing in September 2024! (sneak peek at the cover above)

What is next for me this year? Bumbling through life’s ups and downs will surely play a large role.
But, continuing to develop my portfolio and explore the future of my illustration career will also be an ongoing theme.
Above, Pinch + Poncho, two characters that I return to occasionally when I want to step outside my style and experiment with different textures.
My current top 3 go to Digital Brushes are:
- Candy Corn (Spooky Set)
- Screen Print Line (Craft Box)
- Black Cat (Spooky Set)

Oh I cannot wait for Oak!! 😍
I literally cannot WAIT to get my hands on Oak. My daughter and I adored Ella's Night Lights. Huge steps forward in the progression of picture books. You're bringing a well-needed, refreshing take on storytelling in this format.
